Delbert James Youngs 1033 Lanark Place SARNIA, Ontario N7S 4E5 RE:The Peoples Party of Ontario Dear Mr. Youngs, The name The Peoples Party of Ontario has been approved under subsections 10(7) and 10(8) of the Election Finances Act. The name will be protected for one year. Any abbreviation of the name or sobriquet that your party may consider using must also be registered with the Chief Election Officer. Enclosed is a petition form in both English and French. Please make photocopies if you need more. You have one year to submit a petition and apply for registration. You may not submit a petition during a campaign period for any by-election or general election should one take place in the next year. Although the Chief Election Officer can receive a petition within the one-year period following the date the proposed party name has been approved, it takes the Chief Election Officer approximately three or four months to verify the signatures on a petition. Therefore, if you submit your petition prior to a campaign period the Chief Election Officer will not have enough time to verify the signatures on the petition and to register your political party for the election in progress. However, you may register your party by nominating candidates in at least 50 per cent of the ridings. Please call if you have any questions. MICHAEL D.
